On May 24, 2025, at approximately 01:39 AM, a Friendswood Sergeant was driving in the 1400 block of S. Friendswood Drive when he observed a white Tesla driving at a high rate of speed in the direction of his patrol unit. The officer turned around in an effort to stop the wrong-way vehicle which was nearly colliding with other vehicles as it continued traveling head on in the wrong lanes of Friendswood Drive. The vehicle then stopped at the intersection of S. Friendswood Drive and W. Willowick Ave and sped off again as the Sergeant approached the vehicle. Other officers responding were able to successfully stop the fleeing vehicle by deploying stop sticks and deflating a tire in the 200 block of S. Friendswood Drive.

The driver, Michelaire Medor, 68, was taken into custody and the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted the following charges: Evading in a Motor Vehicle a 3rd degree felony, DWI after providing a Breath Sample, and Possession of Dangerous Drugs both Misdemeanor A’s.

The Friendswood Police Department is grateful no one was injured in this incident. We would also like to commend the responding officers for their swift response and strategic thinking.
