On August 18, 2023, the Friendswood Police Department responded to a report of an unresponsive 17-year-old female at a residence in the 5100 block of Shady Oaks Lane. Medical personnel confirmed she was deceased upon arrival.
An investigation determined that her cause of death, as defined by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office, was the combined toxic effects of multiple substances, including fentanyl. Friendswood investigators identified Manuel Trevino as the individual who supplied the substance linked to her death.
On July 18, 2025, a Harris County grand jury indicted Trevino, 26, of Houston, on a charge of Delivery of a Controlled Substance. His bond was set at $5,000 and he is currently in the Harris County Jail.
Two weeks after the teen’s death, on September 1, 2023, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 6, allowing murder charges to be filed against individuals who manufacture or deliver fentanyl resulting in death.
We want to thank the investigators who worked tirelessly to identify and hold the individual in this case responsible.
