On July 24, at approximately 9:11 AM, the Friendswood Police Department received a report of a wheel and tire theft that occurred in the 4500 block of FM 2351. Security cameras captured the suspect vehicle, a maroon sedan, at the location at approximately 11:16 PM, on July 23. Investigators were able to connect the sedan from the video to Kevin Smith Jr., 27, of Houston. At the conclusion of the investigation, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges for felony Theft and a warrant for Smith’s arrest was issued. He was taken into custody on August 7 and is currently in the Harris County Jail. Smith is also out on bond for separate charges in Harris and Fort Bend counties and serving probation in Harris County.
