League City, TX (September 18, 2025): League City Police Detectives have arrested 62-year-old James Collins Jr., of League City, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash. Collins has been charged with Collision Involving Death ($250,000 Bond).
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m., League City Police Officers responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 3300 block of W. Main Street. Officers and League City Fire Department personnel arrived quickly and began lifesaving measures on the adult male victim, who was found lying on the roadway. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
The investigation revealed that the victim had been struck by two vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. However, the driver of the first vehicle, identified as a late-model gray Toyota Tundra, left the scene without stopping to render aid.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives identified James Collins Jr. as the driver of the Toyota Tundra. Collins was taken into custody without incident on the afternoon of September 17, 2025.
This case remains under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed or have video of the collision or of the victim walking in the area prior to the crash, to contact Detective Thomas at 281-554-1884.
