Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Arrest and Discovery of Stolen Checks

On October 7, 2025, at approximately 1:03 AM, a Friendswood Police officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of E. Willowick Ave. and Morningside Dr. The black Jeep Compass, bearing Georgia license plates, was stopped for a traffic violation shortly after dropping off a passenger in the area. During contact with the driver, identified as Jennifer Uchenna Ejismekwu, 26, of Richmond, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Ejismekwu was taken into custody for possession of drug paraphernalia. A firearm was also located inside the vehicle.

During an inventory of the vehicle, officers discovered 51 checks belonging to 36 different individuals from Friendswood, League City, and Pearland. Three Friendswood residents identified from the recovered checks confirmed they had recently mailed checks at the outside mailbox of the Friendswood Post Office.

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted felony charges on Ejismekwu for Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
