At approximately 5:45 PM, the Friendswood Police Department received a call in regards to a theft in progress at the Friendswood H-E-B, located at 701 W. Parkwood Ave. Officers arrived on scene as the suspect was walking through the parking lot with the stolen merchandise. The suspect got into his vehicle and left the parking lot at a high rate of speed trying to get away from officers. They attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the driver continued to flee leading officers on a short pursuit before stopping the vehicle. The suspect, Chris Freely, 41, was taken into custody without incident and charged with Felony Theft – Prior Convictions ($60,000 bond) and Evading in a Motor Vehicle ($60,000 bond).
