On Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 11:50 p.m., League City Police Officer Chipres observed a black Nissan Sentra traveling southbound in the 1500 block of South IH-45 at a high rate of speed. Officer Chipres attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to stop, initiating a pursuit.

The suspect vehicle exited at Holland Road in Texas City and continued south along the feeder road, eventually entering a single-lane construction area near FM 1764. Shortly after, the Nissan lost control and came to rest in a grassy ditch just north of Delaney Road.

The juvenile driver, Jimenez, and Ruiz exited the vehicle and fled on foot while passing a bag between them. Officer Chipres pursued and detained all three individuals, with assistance from responding officers. Narcotics were recovered at the scene.

During the response, one LCPD officer was involved in a collision with a charter bus on the feeder road between FM 1764 and Delaney Road. The bus was occupied only by its driver. Both the bus driver and the LCPD officer were conscious and alert at the scene and were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the collision involving the LCPD officer.
