The Friendswood Police Department is aware of a recent increase in juveniles operating illegal electronic transportation devices throughout the city. We have received a growing number of calls regarding reckless and unsafe riding behaviors with two recent incidents resulting in serious injuries to juveniles. These incidents highlight the very real dangers associated with improper and unlawful use of these devices.
While many electronic devices are marketed for convenience and recreation, not all are legal for use on public roadways, sidewalks, or parks. Operating a device illegally, disregarding traffic laws, or using equipment that is not age appropriate can lead to severe injury or worse.
