On May 20, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM, a Sergeant with the Friendswood Police Department performed a traffic stop on a black Toyota Corolla in the 3100 block of FM 528. As the Sergeant approached the vehicle, the passenger of the vehicle threw a glass bong out of the window and began running away from the vehicle on foot. Other Officers that were assisting with the traffic stop pursued the passenger and took him into custody without incident.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office charged the passenger, Alberto Rivera, 21, of Houston Evading Arrest or Detention and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Rivera was also found to have an outstanding warrant for Probation Violation Harris County Sheriff’s Office. There is currently no bond set for Rivera.
The Driver, Cristian Escobedo, 21, of Houston was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility with a bond of $687.
