On July 23, 2026, an employee arriving for work at La Escondida Mexican Grill, located at 400 W. Parkwood Avenue, discovered that the business had been burglarized.
Investigators determined that a side door to the business had been damaged, the power to the building had been disconnected, and the alarm system was no longer operational. The cash register till, along with the money inside, was also missing.
Friendswood detectives obtained surveillance video from a nearby business and identified a suspect vehicle believed to be associated with the burglary. Through investigative tools and follow up investigative work, detectives were able to locate and identify the vehicle, which is believed to have been used in several burglaries in the surrounding area.
Detectives identified Larry James Hargrove Jr., 39, of Houston, as the suspect in the La Escondida Mexican Grill burglary. The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted a charge of Burglary of a Building against Hargrove, with bond set at $100,000.
On September 12, 2026, Hargrove was arrested by the Pearland Police Department on the warrant from the Friendswood burglary, as well as a warrant related to a previous Galveston County burglary charge.
Hargrove remains in the custody of the Galveston County Jail.
