SCAM ALERT: With Tax season just ending, scammers are attempting to trick tax payers.
Scammers are sending letters similar to this one and asking recipients to scan QR codes which lead them to fake sites to put in their personal information.
If anyone receives a letter from the IRS, always verify the information by going directly to the IRS website, www.irs.gov
The IRS does not send QR codes for the receiving of a tax refund or payment process.
If anyone receives a suspicious letter, they should send a copy of the letter to and email it to, phishing@irs.gov
