League City, TX (August 7, 2026) – The League City Police Department is investigating a murder and aggravated assault that occurred at a residence in the 1300 block of Deer Ridge Drive.
On August 7, 2026, at approximately 7:11 p.m., the League City Police Department received a 911 call from a male victim reporting that he and his wife had been stabbed. LCPD patrol officers arrived at approximately 7:14 p.m. and located the male victim in the front yard of the residence suffering from multiple stab wounds and lacerations.
Officers immediately began providing emergency medical care. The victim told officers that his wife had also been stabbed and remained inside the residence with the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Juan Jose Uribe Pelaez.
While positioned outside the closed front door, officers observed through a window a female lying motionless inside the living room. Officers forced entry into the residence and issued multiple verbal commands for Pelaez to come out. When he failed to respond, a rescue team entered the residence and safely removed the female victim. Officers immediately began providing emergency medical care until League City Fire Department EMS personnel arrived and assumed treatment.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team responded to assist LCPD and deployed a drone inside the residence. The drone located Pelaez in a bedroom, providing officers with critical information regarding his location. Officers subsequently entered the residence and took Pelaez into custody following the deployment of a Taser.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Tragically, the female victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The male victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Pelaez was transported to the League City Jail and charged with Murder, with bond set at $250,000, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury – Family Violence, with bond set at $250,000.
