On the afternoon of May 6, 2025, LCPD officers were investigating multiple vehicle burglaries from local daycare parking lots. Officers identified a possible suspect vehicle related to the burglaries: a white Honda HRV with black wheels and a TX license plate returning to a BMW. At approximately 5:12 p.m., a Flock Safety camera alerted officers that the Honda was near S Gulf Fwy and Butler Rd.
Special Investigative Unit (SIU) detectives located the Honda parked in the Kiddie Academy parking lot, 1820 Butler Rd, with two occupants. Officers in fully marked police units moved in behind the Honda with their emergency lights activated and began giving commands for the occupants to exit the Honda. However, the driver, later identified as Jevon Martinez Sheely, backed into a patrol unit and exited the parking lot, initiating a pursuit.
SIU detectives successfully deployed spike strips which disabled the front left tire of the Honda prior to turning onto S Gulf Fwy from Butler Rd. Despite the damage, Sheely continued Southbound onto the main lanes of S IH 45 until the vehicle came to a stop in the 2600 block of S Gulf Fwy.
Both suspects exited the Honda and fled on foot from the main lanes across the Southbound Feeder Rd and into the Bay Colony Town Center area. Sheely was apprehended shortly after by LCPD officers. Romer continued to run past the businesses and into the Bay View subdivision. With the assistance from the Texas City Police Department’s K9 Unit, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit, and several deputies with GCSO and Galveston County Precinct 2, Romer was found hiding in a drainage culvert near the 2800 block of Ginger Cove Ln and taken into custody without further incident.
The League City Police Department extends its gratitude to all assisting agencies for their swift and coordinated response. We also thank the residents of League City who provided timely suspect location updates from their home security systems.
This investigation remains active, and additional charges are anticipated.
