On May 28, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., the Friendswood Police Department’s Field Support Unit arrested Matthew Johnson, 39, of Friendswood, in the 400 block of Murphy Road in Stafford, Texas.

Johnson had been wanted in connection with a previous incident where he assaulted a family member at an apartment complex in the 5000 block of Watkins Way. He fled on foot from officers during that encounter and subsequent warrants were issued out of Harris County for Assault Family Violence with Previous Conviction, Evading Arrest with Previous Conviction, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon by a Felon.

During his arrest, Johnson attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers with the assistance of our Police K9, Tigo. Johnson was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the arrest and following his discharge, was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

He now faces an additional charge of Resisting Arrest or Detention in Fort Bend County.
