On September 4, 2026, at approximately 10:08 PM, Friendswood Officers responded to a major accident in the 600 block of S. Friendswood Dr. involving two vehicles. Both vehicles were traveling Southbound on the inside lane of traffic when a Telsa Model 3 hit a Honda Accord from the rear at a high rate of speed causing the Honda to roll over. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals where they received treatment.
Following the accident, the crash reconstruction team responded and collected data from the scene of the crash as well as both vehicles which was later used to verify that the Telsa was traveling at speeds above 100 MPH at the time of impact and the driver was confirmed to have alcohol in his system at the time of the accident.
On September 17, 2026, at approximately 10:47 AM, the driver of the Tesla, Luan Ngo, 48, of Friendswood, was arrested on a Galveston County Warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon 2nd Degree Felony with a bond of $200,000.
Ngo was released from the Galveston County Jail on bond on September 18, 2026. The 24-year-old victim remains hospitalized at the time of this release.
